I dominated the body surf

I thought i'd show Maik how body surfing was done . (See post below)Unfortunately i ran out of talent half way through my body surfing experience and got nailed..
I guess i don't have to go into any depth as the sequence tells the tail. needless to say the Dresdner boys who were watching (Scott and Maik) aren't going to be taking tips from me in the body surfing department...(this is one of many failed attempts)

Maik and his goggles

So i Finally managed to catch up With Maik Twelsiek from Dresdner Kleinwort,
We thought it was going to be best to meet up at the beach and trial his new gear!!
Unfortunately that same Shore break that has been hitting the Mooloolaba shores was now hitting the Noosa shore. That didn't stop Maik from getting out there, Even a lost pair of goggles from a wave breaking on top of him didn't dampen his spirts.. Was very funny to watch though!!

Amanda came to the resue with another pair of goggles and friendly advice!!! I'm not sure he was keen to venture back out into the swell for another drilling though.
Maik is one of the most friendly guys your ever met. Always keen to catch up for a chat. After his 14th place at Kona last year , he proved he can mix it with the best!! He'll be one to watch come next Sunday!!!

Shorey

Mooloolaba Is a rad place with a bad ass shorey. ( For those of you that don't know what a shorey is) It's a wave that breaks in like a foot of water and nails you.
For the boys and girls in the ITU race on Sunday , you will be enjoying this said Shorey!!!
The good times!!!

Today we went to the local pool to meet up With Maiki from Dresdner Kleinwort.
Now this swim squad starts at 9:30am and is the who's who of triathlon.
Lucky i was there to grace them with my super abilities. (Hopefully none of them would have to perform CRP)

Unfortunately time wasn't on my side and i was unable to unleash my " drowning cat style of swimming on them!!! " next time...

It was a quick catch up with Maiki and a few others then off to Mooloolaba to see Graham O'Grady or GOG as you may know him!!!

I will post again on Maiki and the boys from Dresdner soon.... I know your excited.. I can smell it on you ....

noosa

Luke's tight barrel.. Nice goggles!!!

getting ready

Noosa

Wow , this place is Amazing! Last night Luke, Jac and i went running in the bush for an hour. NOT one road , all trails! It's quite hilly with a bunch of hills Luke refers to as "Heart breakers". By the last one i knew why!! Still , i didn't let him see me cry!!!

Then this morning we hit the beach for a morning swim and unlike NZ (where wearing two wetsuits is a good idea!!!) Togs or swimskins are sufficient in these warm waters!!

We met up with Kristan Manietta and Charlotte Paul at the beach, Seems the pros often catch up for a splash .
Although Charlotte seemed convinced there were loads of sharks on the point they were swimming out to. Comforting thought!!! Maybe they'll let me hug them?

We'll be catching up with more athletes this afternoon.
This is the place to train!!!!
Another tough day at the office!!!

Flown the Coop

So I’ve flown the coop (New Zealand for those that don’t know) and I’ve headed over to Australia to catch up with a few of our athletes, I’ll be heading to Mooloolaba for the first ITU World cup of the year, then from there I’ll head down to Port Macquarie for Ironman Australia.
I’ll try and fill my time by training and meeting up with some of our pros. Some are training, some are racing and some are getting over Asian bird flu. (Not really) But being that my first stop is with Luke McKenzie and Amanda Balding I thought it apt to mention.
Luke recently won his second Ironman title in Malaysia and soon after fell pretty sick along with his partner Amanda, his Mum and Dad. Luke was so sick he couldn’t make it through the awards ceremony as every time he stood up he vomited, from there he caught a Flu which then turned to Pneumonia.
I thought to myself “ If I catch what he has, I’ll definitely get some sick days off work” So here I am in Noosa!
So Luke I may have got the description above slightly wrong.

Can you tell us how you got Pneumonia?
The next day after Ironman Malaysia I caught a Gastro bug and was really sick for 2 days. I was so sick I couldn’t make it to the awards to make my speech! Flying home I guess I was susceptible to anything that was going around and I definitely noticed a lot of sick people in KL airport. By the time I made it home to Australia I had a really bad cough and by the end of that week I had Pneumonia. I have never been so sick!

I know you’re passionate about the TV show the biggest loser, Why is that?
Haha, Amanda and I always sit down and have dinner and watch “The Fatties”. We just find it interesting to watch the transformation throughout the series.

What’s something random people don’t know about you?
I am not much of a Chef (I leave the cooking to Amanda) but I make a wicked Four Cheese Lasagna!

How often do you have a wine?
I enjoy a glass a few nights a week with my dinner.
Are you a charmer?
You’d have to ask Amanda, but I would like to think so ☺

Anything else you’d like to share?
Yeah, you’re going to be in PAIN this week, I am going to work you into the ground in training!

Picture : luke Mckenzie ( recovery mode, red wines and crackers)

Luke also failed to answer the question " how do you feel about me dating your younger sister?" i think it's a touchy subject!! I think i'll be lucky to survive the week.
